Beach houses offer privacy but fewer hotel-style services. Daily housekeeping is standard; 24-hour room service is not.
Check-in and checkout times are typically fixed. Arrange arrival times in advance as there may not be a reception desk.
During monsoon season (June-September on the west coast), beach conditions can be rough. Some properties close during heavy rains.
Sea-facing properties can be windy. Pack layers for cooler evenings, especially December through February.
Bring your own provisions or arrange a cook -- not all beach houses are near restaurants.
Secure valuables properly. Beach houses are open-plan by design, and remote locations mean less security infrastructure.
